The Rakes tirent leur révérence

En voilà une bien triste nouvelle: les flamboyants Anglais de The Rakes viennent d'annoncer au NME qu'ils tiraient leur révérence. Voici l'explication officielle fournie au magazine par les quatre Londoniens:

"The Rakes have always been very adamant and proud of the fact that we give 100 per cent to every gig we've ever played. If we can't give it everything then we won't do it. That was the rule we set ourselves from day one. After much deliberation we have come to the shared conclusion that we can't give it 100 per cent any more and regret to announce that The Rakes are calling it a day."

Si on n'en voudra pas au groupe de ne pas poursuivre l'aventure dès lors que la motivation fait défaut, on ne peut s'empêcher de déplorer la disparition d'un groupe qui, par le passé, nous a servi trois albums mémorables (Capure/Release, Ten New Messages et Klang!) et un joli paquet de singles aux succulents relents post-punk, dont l'inusable "Strasbourg" qu'on ne peut s'empêcher de partager avec vous.
