Le nouvel album d'Outkast: c'est pas pour tout de suite

S'il est bien un groupe qui n'a jamais déçu et dont on attend le retour avec une putain d'impatience, c'est OutKast. La dernière fois que le duo d'Atlanta nous a sorti un disque, c'était en 2006 avec Idlewild. C'était le moins bon disque de leur discographie, et pourtant ça restait extrêmement bon et de loin supérieur à la moyenne. Régulièrement, on interroge Andre 3000 et Big Boi sur la possibilité de se retrouver ensemble en studio, mais rien n'est jamais confirmé ou infirmé. Alors que récemment Big Boi annonçait qu'un nouvel album faisait clairement partie des plans du binôme, son comparse de toujours a tenu à aller dans le sens inverse dans une interview accordée à l'édition américaine de GQ:

"There’s been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album. There’s a lot of music on the horizon. I’ve been living off the excitement of new artists. I’ve been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, “Hey, Andre, we want you on this song.” So I’ve been taking those calls and for the last two years, I’ve been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I’ve just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project."

Attention, à chaque fois qu'Andre 3000 pousse la chansonnette chez les copains, on fait dans notre pantalon et on décèle instantanément une valeur ajoutée au titre (la preuve avec la récente collaboration pour Converse), mais clairement, ce que l'on veut plus que tout, c'est un nouvel album d'OutKast. Pas de bol, ce sera à la place un disque solo d'Andre. Qui nous dit ceci à son sujet: 

"I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don’t know if or when that will happen…The only thing I can really say [about the solo record] is I’m going to get back to having fun because that’s what it was all about when I started this in high school—with OutKast—those were like high school dreams. I’m 36 now, so I have grown-man dreams. This album will just be me being myself as normal."

Bref, une news qui mélange joie (un peu) et tristesse (beaucoup).
