On ne vous parle pour ainsi dire jamais des Foo Fighters sur GMD, alors qu'on est une bonne vingtaine de rédacteurs à prendre la plume à intervalles plus ou moins réguliers. Et il y a une raison : la bande à Dave Grohl a beau être l'un des plus gros groupes de rock du monde à l'heure actuelle, cela fait un bon paquet d'années que sa production nous indiffère, tout simplement. Dans cette optique, ne nous demandez pas ce qui nous a poussé à télécharger le Saint Cecilia EP, que le groupe a décidé d'offrir gratuitement via le site http://www.saintceciliaep.com/. En tout cas, dès la première écoute, on est tombé sous le charme de ces titres qui balancent pas mal de purée et nous rappellent l'époque où on passait nos journées à poncer The Colour and the Shape. Sur ce site, outre des liens de streaming et de téléchargement de l'EP 5 titres, vous trouverez une longue lettre écrite par Dave Grohl, et qui explique la raison d'être de cet EP qu'on a ici trouvé très bon (en même temps, on est loin d'être des experts sur le sujet, on vous le concède).

The Saint Cecilia EP was put into motion back in October of this year as a celebration of life and music. The concept being that, as our world tour drew to a close this week, we wanted to share our love of both with you in return for everything you have given us.

Now, there is a new, hopeful intention that, even in the smallest way, perhaps these songs can bring a little light into this sometimes dark world. To remind us that music is life, and that hope and healing go hand in hand with song. That much can never be taken away.

To all who were affected by the atrocities in Paris, loved ones and friends, our hearts go out to you and your families. We will return and celebrate life and love with you once again someday with our music. As it should be done.
